Nutritional Therapy

Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners have a broad lens when it comes to health.  The easiest way to explain Nutritional Therapy (what I do) vs simply working with a nutritionist is that we look at the whole person. It isn't just what goes in your mouth, but it's what happens before, during and after that paints the full picture of health, food and nutrition and their relationship.

Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioners:

  • Identify underlying symptoms in the body and correct imbalances with a whole food, nutrient dense diet and lifestyle changes

  • Investigate the many layers of overall health

  • Believe in a bio-individual approach when it comes to food

  • Help people reintegrate with the innate intelligence of the body

“For as long as I can remember I’ve had “a sweet tooth.” I have consistently had a great exercise routine (group fitness classes about 4 times per week), so I felt like I could treat myself to desserts and eating whatever my body wanted. While balancing life with 2 kids, a husband who is a firefighter, jobs in mental health and non-profit leadership, and volunteer work, I started to notice some acid reflux. I thought it was stress, but since knowing Jillian from the gym, I thought I would see if there was something nutritionally I could do to help rather than committing to taking medication the rest of my life. I had no idea the level of transformation which would result from our work together! I learned so much about my body, food as medicine and how to make life choices which align with my goal of holistic health and living a long life. My acid reflux went away almost immediately, my mood is more stable, I have more energy, and am able to push myself more at the gym. Even several months after finishing my work with Jillian, my husband and I regularly reflect on how much she has revolutionized our family’s health. We are forever grateful for the impact Jillian has had on our lives!”

Here’s how it works

During this nutritional therapy journey, we take a deep dive into your overall health by looking at a handful of key elements. Specifically energy and adrenal repair, a whole-food, nutrient-dense diet, sleep, stress, digestion, blood sugar balance and hydration. All of these factors contribute to our physicality, how we feel day to day, and so much more! You will learn about food, how to choose foods that best support your body, as well as finding a deeper understanding of body systems directly responsible for specific areas of your health.

We work together for a minimum duration of three months. Incorporating new practices around eating, food prep and cooking takes time and I want be there with you every step of the way in order for this to become a permanent and life-long practice.

Here is what each of the three months includes:

2 sessions/month

  • First consultation 60-75 minutes, the following 30-45 minutes, all complete with notes, follow up emails, and corresponding resources

  • Recipes + meal plan + grocery lists

  • You will have access to me via email/text throughout the three months and will receive tons of additional resources to support your individualized plan

  • Month 1

    • Review your initial interview and Nutritional Assessment Questionnaire. This helps me identify what systems in your body are needing the most attention

    • Go over your food + mood journals (captured for four days). This provides understanding around what your current nutrition routine looks like

    • Provide nutritional + lifestyle recommendations and personalized plan for the next 4-6 weeks

    • Provide additional resources to aid in first month, including 60+ recipes

  • Month 2

    • Dive deeper into specific individual conditions/severity report from NAQ

    • Discuss supplements (if needed)

    • Make macronutrient adjustments

  • Month 3

    • Unique to each client, I will advise in choosing from the following: glucose/specific carbohydrate testing, blood glucose monitoring via Levels (continuous glucose monitoring system), a kitchen/cabinet clean out, grocery store outing, a meal prep/recipe at-home session, or assistance with a movement/workout regimen

    • Conduct a re-evaluation/testing + possible modifications to the individualized plan

  • Additional add-on months available if needed
